I Am Worth it
If you check out my lifestyle article titled "A Letter From Grandma," you'll discover that during the Christmas season, I delved into old boxes containing a treasure trove of letters, cards, and mementos from my past. While sifting through the comments of teachers, spanning from childhood to middle school, I noticed recurring mentions of my passion for writing. This revelation prompted a conversation with my mom, who reminded me of the letters I used to write to her throughout my life, as well as my consistent journaling of thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
Reflecting on my journey, I recalled writing in my journal to my unborn children during my pregnancy, but there was a significant hiatus from writing during the demands of motherhood. Somehow, in the midst of raising my kids, I temporarily forgot the joy writing brought me – a therapeutic outlet for expressing myself. As my children ventured off to college, I embarked on a quest to rediscover myself, leading me back to the joy of writing.
In this rediscovery, I took a bold step and authored a light-hearted, enjoyable book. Embracing this renewed passion, I also ventured into podcasting over the past year, connecting with remarkable individuals. Among them, Marsh Engle, an inspiring author, invited me to collaborate with other women as a co-author in her upcoming book. Enthusiastically accepting, I pondered the content of my contribution.
Drawing inspiration from a profound moment a couple of summers ago, I decided to share this impactful story in the book titled "Amazing Woman, Divine Legacy." This writing endeavor not only allowed me to impart newfound perspective and guidance but also led to a deeper understanding of myself. Marsh's insightful questions during the process brought hidden insecurities to the surface, eliciting heartfelt emotions and even tears.
Throughout my life, I've been characterized by a profound care for others, offering attentive listening and thoughtful advice only after careful consideration. I love when a friend or my family leans on me for love and advice. In this current chapter of my life, however, I am extending that same level of care to myself—a process that comes with a distinct learning curve. Yet, I am embracing this journey of self-care and self-reflection, gradually gaining insights and navigating the path of personal growth.
Cheers to growth and embracing a solid relationship with myself-and the realization that, I am worth it too. Yes Debbie, you too are worth it.
