Saturday Morning Thoughts
While sipping my morning coffee and contemplating, I ponder the concept of emotional connectedness. What does it truly signify? To me, it involves recognizing my emotions and subsequently understanding the reasons behind those feelings.
In the past, when something troubled me, I would acknowledge the discomfort without delving into the reasons behind it. However, with personal growth, I've learned to pause and genuinely question the source of my distress. This process isn't effortless; it demands the effort to confront challenging questions, sift through the noise, and uncover the root of the issue. Taking the time to scrutinize the "WHY" not only enhances my understanding but also fosters emotional development, preventing future discontent. I often compare avoiding self-reflection to having a lot of apps on your phone running in the background, draining your energy (your battery) without your awareness.
I share this with transparency and hope that this lands with those pushing troubles down and not assessing them. It takes going within and it is work.
I am going to quote Iris Apfel, a style icon whose fame peaked in her 90’s and just passed away yesterday on March 1, 2024
‘You don’t find out who you are unless you work at it’ -Iris Apfel
Have a fabulous Saturday.
