Is It Change Or Growth ? -Debbie Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom. -Aristotle
It is consistently surprising to witness resistance or judgment towards those embracing their power, venturing into new paths, changing careers, or simply focusing on personal growth. While the inclination to resist change is natural, I perceive it as an opportunity for significant growth. Imagine if you and I remained identical to our school days-we live, accumulate experiences, learn and evolve. Thankfully.
Is this change? Yes, I guess it is and I believe the better word to describe the journey of seeking your true self, embracing your gifts, learning from others and finding a positive relationship with yourself would be growth. As you grow and “change” it can be difficult for others. When you don’t accept the same negative behaviors and take a stand for yourself it will seem as though you have changed in a negative way; when the reality is-you have grown, value yourself and no longer accept it.
Despite the challenge many face in embracing change, I stand unapologetically proud of the growth I’ve achieved in my life. The journey has demanded considerable effort, often accompanied by moments of solitude, yet the investment has proven to be profoundly worthwhile.
As with the words of Aristotle-’Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.’ I will continue to get to know myself and grow as a person and have an honest relationship with myself.
